UK & Ireland Enterprise Champions

Following our recent success in the regional awards, we are really delighted to announce that we have now won the Countryside Alliance UK & Ireland Enterprise Award. The announcement was made at a reception held at the House of Lords on Wednesday 13th March 2013. The award recognises the work which has taken place on the Estate over the last twenty years, including, the redevelopment of the Estate buildings to create commercial work space, as well as the addition and development of the hospitality offering at Utopia, Eden and the Hall itself.

Come and join us for a great day of family entertainment at our brand new Bank holiday event at Broughton Hall on Monday 6th May 2013.

We have a fantastic treasure hunt around the beautiful grounds of the Broughton Hall Estate!

Discover the Ancient Lost Armoury of Broughton

In 1324 the original Broughton Hall was intriguingly destroyed by fire and had to be rebuilt where it is today in 1597. During this time our ancient armoury mysteriously disappeared and we need you to help us find it. Follow the map, solve the clues and uncover the secret of Broughton’s missing treasures.

Win a Luxury Family Break

Complete the challenge to enter the prize draw and win a family mini-break in one of our luxury holiday cottages. Choose from a scenic stay on the banks of Loch Ness or entertain family and friends at the fabulous Eden on the Estate.

Activities for Kids

In addition to the Treasure Hunt the kids can enjoy activities in the Walled Garden and take the rare opportunity to explore the walled garden and private grounds.

We will be raising money for the Members of the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association.

Refreshments

The award winning Utopia coffee shop will be open serving a range of hot and cold drinks with fabulous home made cakes and pastries.

The treasure hunt will be open Bank holiday Monday6th May from 10am – 4pm and the challenge should take around 1 -2 hours to complete.

Admission is free for all under 12’s, £7 for concessions and £9 for adults making it a great value fun packed day for all the family.

Picnics and dogs on leads are welcome.

Broughton Hall Estate Wins a Rural Oscar

We are pleased to announce that Broughton Hall Estate has won the 2012 Countryside Alliance Enterprise Award in Yorkshire. The Estate has been awarded a Rural Oscar from the Countryside Alliance Awards and we now go through to the final. The winner will be announced at a reception at the House of Lords in March 2013.

Broughton Hall Photography Competition Winners

Thank you to everyone who entered the Broughton Photography Competition! A special thanks also goes to everyone who attended the awards evening at our holiday home Eden, it was a great turn out.

The quality of the entries were high, and the judges (Roger Tempest, award winning Craven Herald photographer Stephen Garnett and in-house designer Joe Hollick) were impressed with the variety of subjects. Congratulations to Jeremy Knowles, who won first place in the competition and Colin Riggs who was runner up. The judges also made a number of commendations to the following people for their work: Ian Millinship, Zoe Stott, Sarah Brewer, Katie Hothersall, Zdenka Rosolova, The Dalesman and Adrian Lee.

Below are some pictures from the evening and some of the winning work.

Hoping next year will be bigger and better, thanks again!

Rapha Super Cross Series – Three days of super-charged cyclo-cross racing comes to the Broughton Estate on October 20th

The groundbreaking Rapha Super Cross Series returns, bringing three days of super-charged cyclo-cross racing to venues around the UK. Spectators can enjoy racing of all abilities; from the best in the land to absolute beginners. The winning combination of beer, pies, frites, DJ’s, live music and cowbells will be back to create the best atmosphere this country has ever seen at a cyclo-cross event. The infamous tequila shortcut makes a welcome return to the fun race, this year featuring a new hazard: the mysterious ‘Wall of Foam’!

Entry for spectators at Broughton Hall is FREE and the race action will be called by the best race commentator in the known world (well, Hampshire). We’ll have a brass band on hand (well, this is Yorkshire) and bags full of pesky little cowbells to hand out to all and sundry. Shake it!

Racing starts at 10.45 with the under-10s, with a packed programme through to the Elites at 14.30, ending with the Fun race at 15.30. Got a mountain bike, a helmet and sense of humour? Come along and give it a go. It’s the best fun on two wheels you will ever have.
